A little look back at my 2021 wedding photography…

If you google memorable events of 2021, one of the replies would be that low level anxiety was at an all time high. The number of weddings I had to photograph in half a year was like the starting line at the grand national, horses and riders (couples and suppliers) all jostling and waiting for the off. The total prize fund for the winner would be having the wedding they had dreamt about and planned for. Under starters orders…

Chicken dinners and canapes have helped me through and I need to thank all the wonderful couples who have fed and watered me during these difficult snacking cold turkey months. I can also confirm that a pint of beer tastes better after I have photographed a wedding than at any other time in my life (I’m currently on with dry January, so me and beer are on a break and I’m currently seeing other beverages).

Photographing weddings is like riding a bike, you need to keep moving and try to keep your balance.

I honestly worried that years and years of wedding day photography experience would have all been lost due to a lack of match day fitness. Turns out it was the exact opposite, having spent months on the training pitch I was more than ready to lace up my boots and push myself again. Some people think wedding photography is a matter of life and death. I don’t like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that…

FYI this was taken on 03.01.22, I couldn’t leave it out…
