Charlton Hall Wedding Photographer | Sam & Eryn’s Northumberland Wedding

Sam and Eryn booked me to be their Charlton Hall wedding photographer in March this year (2025). I could go on about how incredible their day was, but I think it’s better you hear it straight from them. I’ve put together a blog that includes five reasons why I love Charlton Hall, a handful of questions answered by Sam and Eryn themselves, and, most importantly, a small selection of photos from their amazing day.

Some lovely words from the Bride and Groom…

I love hearing back from couples, Thank You Eryn & Sam. From the very beginning, Gary’s communication was superb. He was always quick to respond, clear with details, and made everything feel so easy and stress-free. Before our wedding, my husband and I met with Gary and from the moment we sat down, we felt like we’d known him forever. He’s such a friendly, warm person who instantly put us at ease. On the big day, Gary captured everything so beautifully. Every emotion, every little detail, and all the special moments were perfectly documented. Nothing was too much to ask he was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better photographer and are so grateful for the memories he captured for us. We highly recommend Gary to any couple looking for someone who is not only talented but also genuinely lovely to work with!

5 Solid Reasons to Get Married at Charlton Hall Estate…

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels both grand and a little bit different, Charlton Hall Estate in Northumberland should be on your radar. Here are five good reasons to consider tying the knot there:

1. It’s Bold, Stylish, and Full of Personality
Charlton Hall isn’t your typical country house. While it has all the grandeur you’d expect, high ceilings, period features, sweeping grounds—it’s also packed with quirky, modern design touches. Think bold colours, eye-catching art, and interiors that feel fun rather than stuffy. It’s perfect if you want a venue that reflects a bit of personality and doesn’t feel like every other wedding you’ve been to.

2. Ceremony and Reception All in One Place
One of the biggest stresses of a wedding day is moving guests between venues. At Charlton Hall, you can hold your ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast, and after-party all on-site. There’s even accommodation for you and your guests, so no one has to worry about taxis or logistics after a few glasses of champagne.

3. A Private Estate All to Yourself
When you book Charlton Hall, you get exclusive use of the estate. That means it’s just you, your guests, and the team making it all happen behind the scenes. No strangers wandering through your photos, no interruptions, just a private, beautiful setting where you can properly relax and celebrate.

4. Stunning Photo Opportunities
It’s a photographers dream to be a Charlton Hall wedding photographer, it has everything: dramatic interiors, beautiful gardens, sweeping lawns, and views of the Northumberland countryside. Whether you love grand staircase shots, moody indoor portraits, or romantic outdoor golden-hour sessions, you’ll have no shortage of backdrops for your wedding images.

5. A Professional but Relaxed Team
The staff at Charlton Hall know how to run a wedding properly, but they manage to do it without being overbearing or formal. They’re efficient, helpful, and friendly, the kind of people you want around you on what’s supposed to be a happy, memorable day.

What was the best piece of advice someone gave you before the wedding? Did you actually take it?

Sam – “be present in the moment” and yes he actually took this advice on board (Eryn).

Eryn – don’t mingle , let people come to you. Yes I stuck to it and savoured every moment with my husband !

If you had to describe your wedding day in three words, what would they be?

Perfect , magical and quick.

If you could relive one single moment from the day, what would it be?

We both said we would love to relive the aisle moment , Eryn walking down the aisle and Sam watching Eryn and the kids walk down the aisle

What part of the day were you most nervous about — and how did it actually turn out?

Eryn – I was so nervous about walking down the aisle as I thought I would be an emotional wreck from morning until night. It turned out to be my favourite part and I couldn’t stop smiling .

Sam – entrance into wedding breakfast and evening reception as they were both big entrances, it all turned out absolutely fine and was a memorable part of our day !

What little detail are you secretly most proud of pulling off?

Sam – my speech, I read it well and it was received very well

Eryn – my shoes which represented my “something blue” they were unique but something that everyone loved.

Now that it’s over, what’s your best piece of advice for couples planning their big day?

Get married as early as you can in the day so that your wedding lasts longer as it really does go far too quick !!
