Corporate Headshots in Norton: The Power of Authentic Business Photography…

Creativity and Connection: Why Great Images Start With Great Conversations

Photography has always been about more than just owning the best camera or having the latest equipment. For me, it has always been about seeing things differently, connecting with people and creating images that tell a story.

Recently, I was contacted by Kayleigh, a second year fashion student at the Northern School of Art, who was looking for a summer internship opportunity within my photography studio in Norton. She had heard about my work through a family connection and was interested in gaining experience across studio photography, location shoots and post-production editing.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to offer an internship placement at the time, but I still wanted to invite Kayleigh into the studio for a chat about photography, creativity and the industry.

What happened was a great reminder that sharing knowledge is a two-way process. I expected to spend time talking through my experience, my approach to photography and the realities of running a studio, but I came away feeling inspired by her approach too.

One of the things that really stood out was her refreshing attitude towards photography. In a world where there is often a focus on expensive cameras and equipment, Kayleigh had taken a more creative and authentic route. She uses a vintage camcorder for behind the scenes footage, a small digital compact camera and film photography to create a distinctive style.

It reminded me that great photography has never just been about the gear. It is about ideas, observation, creativity and understanding how to capture a moment.

Kayleigh’s passion for fashion and candid photography, along with her experience creating location shoots across different environments, showed a real eye for storytelling. Her approach to creating images felt thoughtful and considered, and it was great to see someone so early in their photography journey already developing their own visual identity.

During our conversation, I also shared more about the direction I’m continuing to grow within my own photography business, particularly around corporate headshots, business branding photography and creating professional content for businesses.

The demand for high quality business imagery continues to grow. Whether it is a professional headshot for LinkedIn, a team photograph for a website, or a collection of branding images that shows the personality behind a business, photography plays a huge role in how companies present themselves.

People connect with people, and authentic photography helps businesses build trust before a customer has even made contact.

As part of our time together, I invited Kayleigh to step in front of the camera and created some new headshots for her to use across her social media and professional profiles. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate the importance of a strong personal brand and how the right images can help showcase who you are and what you do.

The biggest takeaway from our conversation was that creativity is everywhere. Sometimes the best ideas come from the most unexpected places, and sometimes the person learning from you can teach you something too.

I’m grateful Kayleigh took the time to visit the studio, and I’m excited to see where her photography journey takes her.

For businesses looking for professional headshots, corporate photography or personal branding images, I believe the same principles apply. The best photographs come from understanding people, telling their story and creating images that feel authentic.

That is what I aim to bring to every photography session.
