How long have you known each other? We met 4th July and married 4th June, 4 years later
How did you meet? Grab a granny’ night in the Black Bull, Yarm
Would you share your proposal story? Our first holiday was to Lee’s apartment in Spain, we hadn’t been back until we returned to celebrate our 3 year anniversary, Lee was acting strangely giggling one night whilst getting ready (I just thought he was being weird) we always joked throughout our relationship saying ‘have you got a ring in your pocket?’ We were having a laugh and then he got down on one knee with a beautiful pear shaped diamond… naturally I was an emotional wreck with mascara streaming down my face.
Which wedding venues did you view before you selected Lartington Hall? we viewed, Rockliffe, Wynyard, Feversham Arms, Rudding Park, Rudby Hall. Lartington didn’t even have a website and was pretty unheard of, I had planned to expand our search to Northumberland venues until we viewed Lartington and fell in love with it.
What was the best moment of your day? so many parts of our day we loved, our first dance was fab, getting showered in confetti! But I think for me, the moments before entering the chapel standing with my best friends and Dad (who was an emotional wreck) and telling my Dad not to look at me or talk to me as I was about to lose it (laughing thinking about it now) then walking down the aisle seeing Lee and saying the vows we personally made for each other.
If you could do it all again would you change anything? I do wish we could do it all again and I’d be a lot calmer, I’d spent hours with my feet up on the morning, enjoying getting ready with my BM’s but then suddenly I saw guests arriving and I wasn’t ready…. I’d get in my dress earlier and drink more champagne and then put my feet up.
What would your dream wedding breakfast consist of? Lee would probably choose a Chicken Parmo, chips and garlic sauce.
Do you feel any different now you’re married? Days following the wedding we just felt completely overwhelmed, people always say it doesn’t feel any different to be married but to us, it did, it felt truly amazing!
How’s married life? married life is the best feeling, we laugh calling each husband and wife but it is really a wonderful feeling.
Have you got a wedding top tip? incorporate a wedding film alongside your photographs, it’s amazing to see the day compacted into a short film that captures the love and happiness of the day.
If you could invite one more guest, alive or dead, celebrity or mere mortal, who would it be? Lee’s mum would be our guest who we really wish was part of our special day. Sadly she passed away 6 years ago and I never met her. I just hope she can see how happy we are but sad that she wasn’t with us.
Is there one song that reminds you of your wedding day? A thousand years’ is the track on our wedding film that really reminds my Dad of our day, he can’t listen to it without getting a tear in his eye, we had a string quartet playing it whilst signing the register.
On your wedding day what time did you go to bed? People always say your wedding day goes by so fast but I was up at 5am and went to bed at 5.45am so well and truly made the most of the day. We partied until the sun came up eating crisps and swilling port and whisky, good times!
Any other comments? another thing – your wedding photographer should be someone you feel at ease with…. we laughed so much with GW it wasn’t like he was there working, he was part of us and wasn’t obtrusive in anyway, you were the perfect fit for us and we loved you capturing our day.
Thank you Kate and Lee for having me at your wedding… If you’re in need of a photographer to tell your Lartington Hall story then please go to my contact page, let me know your date and I’ll check availability for you…
