Hi, I’m Gary Walsh, a Teesside-based children’s portrait photographer, and I’m excited to share a brand-new photoshoot idea I’ve been working on. It’s called My Forever Friend, and I think it’s going to mean something really special for a lot of families.
The inspiration behind it is deeply personal. Watching my baby granddaughters grow up is like reliving those early years with my own daughters. It feels like I’ve been given another chance to enjoy that magic again, and it’s stirred up so many emotions. That mix of nostalgia, love, and quiet joy is what’s driving this project.

What Is My Forever Friend?

My Forever Friend is all about capturing the sweet, sometimes quirky, and always meaningful bond between a child and their favourite toy or comfort object. It could be a teddy, a well-loved doll, a superhero figure, or even a scruffy old blanket. If it matters to your child, then it matters to me.

I want these images to be simple and timeless. Think clean styling, white outfits, or white mixed with denim and the focus completely on your child and their ‘forever friend’.

Why It’s So Important to Have Your Children Photographed

As a Teesside children’s portrait photographer, I’ve worked with hundreds of families over the years. One thing I hear again and again is how quickly time passes. You blink, and the baby is walking. You turn around, and they’re off to school.

Photographs are more than just pictures. They become part of your family’s story. They capture the fleeting details, the way your child holds their teddy by the ear, the scrunch of their nose when they laugh, those toothy grins or shy glances.

You won’t get that time back. But you can hold on to the memory of it, clearly and beautifully, through portraits. That’s why projects like My Forever Friend matter.

A Special Offer to Help Build the Portfolio

To say thank you for helping me shape this idea, I’m offering the My Forever Friend session at a special rate of £50. That includes the photoshoot and a 7″x5″ print.

After the session, I’ll walk you through the rest of your images and talk you through any extras you might want. There’s no pressure at all, just honest, straightforward advice and options.

Want to Take Part?

If this sounds like something you’d like to be part of, I’d love to hear from you. I’ll be running a small number of sessions over the coming weeks, and I’d be happy to check our diaries to find a date that works.
